Ponca City Public Schools
Ponca City Public Schools considers technology an essential component for teaching. We are committed to preparing our students for the 21st Century.
All classrooms, from Pre-K through the 12th grade, have Promethean Boards. The interactive whiteboards promote greater student engagement, helps accommodate for different learning styles, and is visually stimulating.
"Clickers" (hand held response systems) are available for use at every school in the district.
From 8th grade - 12th grade, students learn in a 1:1 setting, with one device for every student. The 8th grade center is piloting HP Chromebooks for the 2014-15 school year, and is working in a Google Apps for Education (GAFE) environment. The high school students use traditional laptops.
Thanks to the supportive citizens Ponca City, a bond issue passed that will provide devices from PreK - 7th grade classrooms that will make the learning environment technology rich, with a cart of devices for every 2 classrooms. In addition to computer labs, several schools have iPad and laptop carts available to enhance learning. Elementary classrooms typically have several PCs.
